Wow...I was doing some research and came across a labrador forum for which was said something to the effect that Silver labrador breeders who use free e-mail should not be taken seriously....(LOL) really now, talk about grasping at straws.
Am Glad to say the pack is progressing quite nicely, In 10 short months with Tug, we have managed to get his AKC CGC, he has passed his Disaster and Building Search certifications, and has recieved a Best of Show, First in working dog, first in obedience, and first for best trick, for those who did not know, Tug is a member of our local fire department as a SAR K-9 as well he belongs to a National Disaster Response team, we find lost people, he also took fourth in The Alabama Duck Dog puppy series. Our Girls are busy, busy, busy getting ready for Junior Hunt, Dixie took Champion in the A.D.D.S. and Glory took reserve Champion. We will have a new addition in the spring, either a "Champagne" or S.F. yellow female for which we are extremely excited! and Chalk creek has taken on a one eyed male blood hound puppy for which we will be training as a Man-trailer and possibly doing some agility work, we have always been for the underdog and are looking forward to this little guy going all the way to the top. Its been a great year thus far and we are looking for an even better next year! Oh yeah, and about the free e-mail, I will catch a break where I can, I hardly think this has anything to do with my Integrity as a breeder or a trainer.

No, I am not a WEIM!
Why do people insist on calling my Labradors WEIMS....That woud be like someone calling me OBAMA! Although, I have nothing against WEIMS, they would probably make a better president than what we have! But please dont insult my intelligence, I wont take the blame for what goes on in my country, I will however tell you that I am raising purebred Labradors and will take all the credit in the world for working hard to establish Champion bloodlines!

So I woke up thinking this morning about a post that I had read a few days ago with regard to money...the statement was that "most silver labrador breeders breed only for color so as to command a higher dollar for this "rare" breed with no regard to health or conformation as well most breeders will continue to in breed (father to daughter, mother to son, etc)"...I do suppose that there are some breeders that do this, but I dont believe that this is done only with "silver" labradors, I have seen this done with many other breeds, also inclusive of Puppy Mills, and yes, these are not what I would call a breeder any how...so please dont generalize the good with the bad, that's kind of hasty if you ask me. If anybody knew the amount of money that I have invested in my dogs they would probably fall out of theur chair, heartworm and frontline for 5 every month, yearly vaccinations health clearances and food...field trial registration fees, travel fees and seminar fee's, protective gear for my search dogs and all necessary equipment to sustain us in the woods while we work to save lives, and truck costs, and just think I or may K-9's life may be sacrificed to save yours...I just priced a disaster vest for Tug at roughly 900.00...I train SAR dogs and a pay another trainer to train for field trials...dang, and I have not made the first penny from my dogs...If you think I am in this for money, you've got me confused with someone else!

Silver Labradors
Have run into quite a few people lately that have never heard of a "Silver" Labrador... Silver Labradors are registered as Chocolate Labradors, "Charcoal" Labradors are registered as Black Labradors and "Champagne" Labradors are registered as Yellow Labradors. My Labradors are all dual registered AKC/UKC Purebred Labrador Retrievers. LKC does not accept the dilute colors as a standard for the breed so therefore they are a disqualification in the conformation arena but they may compete in many other events from obedience, agility hunt and field trials, etc. All of the breeders that I have dealt with do all of the appropriate health clearances and DNA. I hand pick my breeding stock and am working hard to title all of my dogs and will make Champions before I make puppies.
